openSUSE 12.2

openSUSE ha liberado la versión 12.2, basada en el kernel 3.4

Entre las principales novedades de openSUSE 12.2 podemos citar la incorporación de GRUB 2 como el bootloader por defecto, GNOME 3.4, KDE 4.8.4 y para quienes tengan equipos con recursos limitados podrán optar también por XFCE 4.10.

Como suele ser habitual, esta versión obtendrá soporte durante dos ciclos de lanzamiento más dos meses. En la actualidad, openSUSE 12.3 está programada para dentro de seis meses (aprox), dado que el presente lanzamiento se retrasó dos.

FreeFileSync 5.7 – Compara y sincroniza carpetas

FreeFileSync es una aplicación que nos permite comparar y sincronizar carpetas y archivos de una manera muy sencilla.

Acaba de ser actualizado a la versión 5.7 con esta lista de cambios:

Modern directory selection dialog (Windows Vista and later)
New file versioning scheme appending revision number to files
New sync option to limit number of versions per file
Revised configuration format for *.ffs_gui/*.ffs_batch files: old format will be supported for some time
Fixed crash on invalid file modification times

Algunas de sus opciones son:

• No tiene limitaciones en el número de archivos a sincronizar.
• Soporte Unicode.
• Soporte de red.
• Soporte para archivos de más de 4 GB.
• Posibilidad de programar la sincronización.
• GUI muy clara e intuitiva.
• Posibilidad de enviar archivos a la Papelera en lugar de sobreescribir o borrar.
• Chequear si hay actualizaciones desde el mismo programa.

Podemos instalarlo en Ubuntu descargando el siguiente archivo:

FreeFileSync_5.7_Ubuntu_12.04_32bit.tar.gz

Una vez descargado, extraemos el archivo en la ubicación que deseemos. Entramos a la carpeta creada y por las dudas nos cercioramos mediante Propiedades – Permisos que el archivo FreeFileSync sea ejecutable. Ahora solo basta hacer un doble click sobre este mismo archivo.

• Replaced JRE 6u32 by JRE 6u35 in Sweet Home 3D installers bundled with Java.

Ha sido actualizado a la versión 4.1.22, VirtualBox, con esta lista de cambios:

• VMM: fixed a potential host crash triggered by shutting down a VM when another VM was running (only affected 32-bit hosts and 64-bit OS X hosts, 4.1 regression, bug #9897)
• VMM: fixed a potential host crash under a high guest memory pressure (seen with Windows 8 guests)
• VMM: respect RAM preallocation while restoring saved state.
• VMM: fixed handling of task gates if VT-x/AMD-V is disabled
• Storage: fixed audio CD passthrough for certain media players

Como pueden ver, es una actualización de mantenimiento que solamente soluciona algunos bugs.

Actualizado Avidemux con nuevas mejoras – Como instalarlo en Ubuntu 12.04

Es un editor y conversor de vídeo con soporte para una amplia variedad de codecs y formatos de audio y vídeo, diseñado para efectuar operaciones de conversión como por ejemplo DVD a DivX o DivX a VCD, aunque sus posibilidades de multiplexión/demultiplexión de audio y vídeo son realmente infinitas.
Ha sido actualizado a la versión 2.6, incorporando nuevas características. Esta es su lista de cambios:

* Deal with time and not assume constant framerate. You can now edit your .ts and keep a/v sync.
* OpenGl filters (only Qt4/mac & linux)
* Support for more scripting language : Spidermonkey, TinyPy and QtScript
* Support for hardware accelerated framework : VDPAU for the moment.
* Multiple audio tracks support (in / out)

Para instalarlo en Ubuntu 12.04y en el caso que no tengas agregado el repositorio de Getdeb, deberías agregarlo primeramente descargando este paquete deb, luego sí podrás instalar Avidemux 2.6.0 con el enlace que encontrarás en Getdeb.

Pac Manager 4.3 – Como actualizarlo o instalarlo en Ubuntu

Se ha vuelto a actualizar PAC Manager, un magnífico gestor gráfico que nos permite manejar más amigablemente conexiones SSH / Telnet.

Está escrito en Perl/GTK y esta es la lista de cambios de esta nueva versión (4.3):

. Awesome PAC startup speed improvement, specially when *too many* connections are configured!
. Added options to allow/deny both visible/audible terminal bell
. Added DnD method for the “Local Shell” tab to untab
. Added <Ctrl><Alt>d shortcut to duplicate current connection

Nuevamente trayendo novedades sobre Parted Magic, una pequeña distribución en formato LiveCD que nos proporciona una colección de herramientas para el testeo de hardware, rescate de datos y principalmente particionado de discos duros. Estos son los cambios de la versión:

A mess of bugs has also been dealt with.
The split_initrdimg.sh has been updated so it works with atftpd again. There were actually two issues. The bigger initbase file was 41MB and atftpd can only handle 32MB max file size. The other issue was a limit on the number of characters in the command line. The split files now have shorter names like part00.
